September 28, 2008 is World Rabies Day and the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA) is joining with our colleagues across the globe (and across campus) to unite our efforts in support of this year's One Health Challenge.
Despite being completely preventable, thousands of people die every year worldwide from Rabies. It is easy for us to forget the gravity of the situation here in a country where routine rabies vaccination of domestic dogs and cats has become common place, but we must help raise funds and awareness worldwide to make sure that people everywhere can be protected from this preventable, zoonotic disease.
Join us this month as we celebrate World Rabies Day 2008 with exciting opportunities for fun and learning here at Michigan State University.
